Eradicating Poverty in Asia by 2030 would be More Challenging

Shang-Jin Wei, Chief Economist of Asian Development Bank, spoke to BBC that poverty eradication in Asia by 2030 would be more challenging than we thought. His argument is referred to the recent findings of their research. $1.25 poverty line is not appropriate to explain extreme poverty in Asia. The 2030 eradication goal is set using this poverty line, which might leave some of the poor behind.
